Frequently asked questions.
How long does it take to get glasses made?
The short answer is it depends. Usually glasses take about a week from time of ordering. If you choose certain coatings or you have a complex prescription it can take longer.
How much do glasses cost?
That depends on a few factors. Your lens material and prescription are one piece of the price; more complex uses are more expensive (for example, readers only vs progressives). There are also add-ons available (anti-glare, transitions, coatings, etc) which affect price. Basic lenses start around $75 for single vision and $225 for progressive and go up from there.
As for our frames, we have options ranging in price from $99 to over $500. They are hand-picked by us for quality and style, so they are all a good investment.
No matter your budget, we are confident that we have something for you! We’re happy to keep your budget in mind as we help you shop; and, no matter how much you spend, you’ll get an amazing pair of glasses.
What insurance do you take?
None! We are out-of-network with every insurance company, but don’t fret! Because we don’t have to spend time chasing down insurance claims, we are able to keep our prices lower without sacrificing quality (gasp!).
We understand that many people want to use insurance to reduce their out-of-pocket expenses. To help with that, we offer a discount if you have insurance and can help you file paperwork to request reimbursement from your insurance company.
Can you reuse my frames?
Certainly! It depends on the condition of the frame. We inspect every frame for potential issues like damage or age. Most of the time we can reuse a frame without issue, but it is always done at the risk of the customer (however low). If we feel a frame is risky to use we will tell you beforehand.
Do I have to leave my frame with you when you put new lenses in it?
Not right away. If you’re updating prescription in one of your beloved frames, you keep your glasses with you while we order your new lenses. Once we have those lenses in hand, we will call you to schedule a time to leave your frame with us while we cut and mount your lenses.
That appointment usually takes under an hour, and you are free to do whatever you like during that time. Read a book! Answer emails! Go have coffee! Stumble blindly through the parking lot! Or just take a load off for a while in one of our comfy chairs.
Can you repair my frames?
Probably! We need to see the repair before we can say. We can repair most frames in our on-site lab. If the frames are too far gone it is sometimes possible to save the lenses by putting them into another frame.
How much does a repair cost?
We don’t know fully until we get into it. Sometimes the frames surprise us, but generally a repair won’t cost more than $35-70 unless it's something very involved. We do our best to give you an idea of cost and risk before we start.
Do you have a doctor on site?
No, we do not have a doctor (optometrist) on staff; only glasses makers (opticians) here! Although, we can recommend local optometrists or ophthalmologists if needed.
